Monolithic Pictures is thrilled to announce the acquisition of US distribution rights to "PORTRAITS" - an evocative short film series by documentary director Ian Cumming.
Ian Cumming is a Los Angeles-based documentary and commercial director known for his cinematic, human-first approach to storytelling. His work for brands like Leica, BBC, and Thrasher Magazine is marked by an intimate visual style that keeps the camera close to his subjects, fostering authenticity and connection. Ian's practice centers on socially impactful narratives that advocate, connect, and invite meaningful reflection.
The series launches with "A Portrait of Gianni Gigliotti," a beautifully intimate documentary following tattoo artist and bonsai enthusiast Gianni Gigliotti as he explores the unexpected connections between his two crafts. Through the warmth and grain of 35mm, the film captures Gianni's meditations on patience, the beauty of mistakes, and the transformative power of time - themes that resonate across both the permanence of ink and the careful cultivation of living art.
